THE FAMILY SOCIETY TERVAN SUKU RY
The family society Tervan Suku is founded in 1953. The ancestor of the family is Mr. Matti Terva, who lived in Sappee village in municipality Pälkäne in Tampere region in 1709-1784 and was there a farmer in Terva farm in 1729-1761. The family Terva has four branches, i.e. Erkki, Tuomas, Matti and Kreeta. The family has altogether abt. 10 000 members. The purpose of the society is to maintain the traditions concerning the family and it's dwelling-place. Most members of the family live also nowadays in Tampere region and in province Häme. The society has the official meeting in every other year and other meetings as well. Also memories and knowledge about the family and it's history is collected. Many members of the society carry on genealogy to get more detailed information of the family. It's worth mentioning that the word "terva" means "tar", which describes well the character of the people living in province Häme.
